The Rebirth Of Rhyme Poem by Francis Duggan

The Rebirth Of Rhyme

I will not be alive for the rebirth of rhyme
But i have a strong feeling that in some future time
The writers of rhyme will be hailed as a poetess or poet
And be looked on as worthy of literary note

The attraction of modern poetry to future readers may not last
The present always becomes a memory of the past
Blank verse the critically acclaimed poetry of the twenty first century
Like rhyme is today may become a forgotten memory

In decades from now the praises of rhyme the literary critics may sing
And what is now dismissed as literary out of date may be seen as an in thing
The past can become the present life works in this way
And rhyme may be reborn to greatness one day

Humans come to and go from the World but life does go on
And at the rebirth of rhyme the life from me will be long gone
Though nowadays literary critics dismiss it as out of date
Decades from now the literary fans the rebirth of rhyme will celebrate.
