The Revenge Poem by Godiah Imbukuleh

The Revenge

Rating: 5.0

He was sure she was gone
and walked in confidently
A few errands on his mind and phone
The morning was calm and boring
He had no idea
a Lioness was stalking him
lying motionless, steady and vehemently
Ears cocked, toes on the marks
ready to pounce silently

And as fate would have it with him
he somehow strayed a few steps too far
and exposed himself to her machinations
As he meandered excitedly about
like a satisfied puppy
He felt her presence but failed to run
the she struck hard and cold

The shock shook him terribly
for long moments he was disoriented
His nerves on fire, his mind in chaos
It was the anticlimax
The end to an obsessive love story
He hadn't seen it coming
It only hit him later as an epiphany
