Thatcher closed the mines,
the factories, the shipyards
and never gave a single thought
to men left without a role,
without dignity
or a sense of self-worth.

Devastated communities
demoralised into extremism.

Much of it had to be done,
but not so brutally
without any thought or care for the left behind.

Yet, in Truth,
most power and wealth remains with men -
the oligarchs,
the tech giants,
the captains of industry.

But these are not most men.
Most men lack riches and the power they bring.
Denied their roles as protectors and providers
they have nothing but brute strength -
the superiority of their muscles -
and muscle power,
like every other advantage,
may corrupt.
