The Rise & Fall Of Wayne Newton (Penthouse To The Outhouse)

Over 30,000 sold out performances in Las Vegas alone,
The Entertainment Capital of the World he called home,
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas commercials say,
The castle in which he reigned he'll have to move away.

'Danke Schoen' and 'Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast, '
"Mr. Las Vegas, " who knew forever it would not last?
An icon of perfection second only to Sammy & Frank,
Of all its performers in the top 3 he'd constantly rank.

When Sin City was overrun with scandals and crime,
As Mafia Chieftains by the boatload were doing time,
While it seemed like the desert heat had melted away,
There was still one fixture that was in Vegas to stay.

Did Wayne save the town founded by the Mafia elite?
Where it got so hot thin-soled shoes burned your feet,
With a waiting list several years long it's a known fact,
After the shows it's on to poker, black jack and crap.

Contracts as much as 25 million per year, mega-bucks,
But, every gambler knows soon you'll run out of luck,
Successfully sued for back wages & of course the IRS,
Never immune from those blood suckers, even the best.

What happened to the once mighty fixture extraordinaire?
How did Newton get from (top) here to (bottom) there?
Of all the billionaire owners along the strip & downtown,
And yet not a single offer for assistance has come around.

Newton's Casa de Shenandoah ranch is on the auction block,
Scheduled to be sold to someone May 31,2013, Tic-Tock,
Former friends, business associates like buzzards & jackals,
Instead of bailing Wayne out, line up to put on the shackles.

Had plans to make his place a theme park for tourists to see,
However, those whom he owed would refuse to let that be,
Denying Newton an opportunity in this business enterprise,
They'd all get paid, he'd still be on top, but no, okay, why?

This residence by Sunset and Pecos a mere hop, skip & jump,
From where he had audiences clapping & shaking their rump,
Shows not laced with profanity purely a talented first class act,
The once Ace of Diamonds now relegated to a One Eyed Jack.

Did Wayne at one time or another step on toes amid sorrow?
Were they connected to the butts he'd have to kiss tomorrow?
Kim Kardashian makes $$$$$ with absolutely no talent at all,
One of the greatest entertainers has his back against the wall.

As these powers that be have no plans to allow room to breathe,
They would rather see him suffocate or worse, maybe he'll bleed,
Arabian horses & three houses on 37.8-acres of prime real estate,
He and his wife appealed the sale order but is it too little too late?
