The Rock Wine Bar Poem by Francis Duggan

The Rock Wine Bar

Oh have you ever been to the Rock Wine Bar
Where Rocker Joe plays on his loud guitar
And drunken young men and women too drunk for dancing are noising loudly until closing time at two
And 'tis almost three before the street is noiseless when staggering homewards goes the last yahoo,
On saturday evening the main street is busy the party atmosphere is in the Town
The young hoons with their car stereos blaring loudly burn rubber racing their cars up and down
For five or six hours they drink and they party on sunday morning they sleep in till late
And wake hung over with a sickly feeling some side affects too much grog does create,
The Rock Wine Bar till the small hours of Sunday morning is the noisiest place in the Town's noisiest street
There's always heavy noise and heavy drinking and loud rock music where young party people meet,
The young people they sure know how to party and leave it all hang out as some might say
Though all next day they feel sick and hung-over for alcohol abuse the price is big to pay
And Rocker Joe on heavy amplifiers is screaming out songs in the Rock Wine Bar
But youth must have it's fling or so they tell us and lots
of noise where many young people are.
