The Romantic Illusion Poem by pabodha hettige

The Romantic Illusion

The flicker of light
Dancing on the blank wall,
Is not enough,
To shed light………….
But,
Triggers my memory
Back in to a time,
Long left behind………….
I relive
The beautiful nights, where
The unruly emotions towered
Binding my desires,
With hers……..
At a time the whole world sleeps,
I feel her warmth
And enjoy her smell
As she sleeps in my arms
Like a new born,
Naked and white………….
Fatigued by the divine act of perpetual love
She dreams her own dream,
Undisturbed…………
I silently observe
The smile across her lips……….
Suddenly the flicker goes off
And I search
In the darkness
For the moments lost,
For the romantic illusion
That deluded me in the darkness………
