The Root Of My Demise Poem by Sally Ngobeni

The Root Of My Demise

Rating: 5.0

The root of my demise, lies within the racial lines
Why should my accent,
Affect how easily I'm accepted?
We pretend to be equal,
But that's just bad acting...
Like a movie without a sequel
Cos the root of my demise, lies within racial lines.

We have apparently become democratic,
But I just think that's just so comic
We move simultaneously, seeming so hectic
I dare you to take a moment, u'll see it just so lunatic.

Since the root of my demise, lies within racial lines
We claim to be liberated or is rather emancipated?
If you truly believe that to be true,
How far does your mind elongate?
Is it the white man you see,
Begging for a job at the gate?

The root of my demise, lies within racial lines.

This is the truth that I shall perpetuate to captivate,
Hoping that our children it shall cultivate.
And that this trend, we shall mutilate.

So that the root of their demise... lies in the choices they make!
