The Rose Poem by Christine K. Trease

The Rose

Rating: 4.5

You have loved us in spite of our failures, through sorrow, triumphs and tears.
You have cared for us unequivocally through many happy years.
You have stood in the shadows of others, yet we knew your important part.
You have given your best to us always, the gift of a loving heart.
You have sacrificed things you wanted, tosee those around you succeed.
You have forgiven those who spited you and returned with loving deed.
You have shown many paths to your children who never knew they were there.
You have open arms and loving kindness for all who venture near.
You have lived a life of colorful scheme, excelled at what you chose.
It must be your strength and your beauty that likens you to The Rose

Christine: I give you a 9 on roses: one of my favorite flowers, I always buy roses for special occaisions. I wrote this one not to long ago, I give you a preview, than I shall post; Read your profile, you are something special. I came from a large family,9 children, I managed to have only two, both great kids and only 2 grand children, and one great, my great is 4 years old and they live in Okinawa, Japan. I will be 82 in October, and started poetry 3 years ago, and have not stopped, I did not know if my work would have any response, and with poem hunter, I have my wish come true, people really read my work, get a minimun of 55 hits a day, my valentine poems ran over two weeks with over a hundred hits a day.. thank you for your wonderfull coments, I need encouragement to post as I have over a hundred Haiku's and over a thousand poems, don't intent to post all, The Haiku's may take preference if accepted, The Rose The rose will wither in the days to come However, not the memories of where it is from. In a vase stands tall your rose. When it dies, I will find a book To press its Memory for a later look, your Precious rose will never die, To live on, a feast for Someone’ else’s eyes.
