The Ruins Poem by Christine Natale

The Ruins

Pillars of dust
Walls of lust
Foundations of snow
Build houses of woe

Unsubstantial love
Lost in the mud
Given in haste
To eternity’s waste

One love so strong
One love so wrong
My love so true
False love from you

In the ruins look
Read like a book
The mirror of stone
Shows you alone

Choices you make
Chances you take
Throw treasure away
Let vanity stay

A terrible fate
And now it’s too late
To abide by the rule
You are folly’s fool
