The Sad Woman Poem by Brandino Mandino

The Sad Woman

One night as I was walking along
To my ears came a sorrowful song
The song was about death,
About one taking one's final breath.
As I progressed I came to see
What appeared to be an old woman sitting in a tree.
I asked her why she was so sad.
What could possibly make her life so bad.
But in silence she just stared blankly at me
And suddenly she fell head first from the tree.
In panic I ran to see what came of her,
And what I found filled me with aghast!
For now her mangled body lay on the ground,
Her head broken with blood flowing out.
And now every-time I close my eyes all I see
Are those dead blank eyes staring back at me.
