The Saviour laughed and laughed
Seeing the pastor abandon and resign
His pastoral work before
He died
After He had listened to and answered
The prayers of His flock
By explaining and recasting
The pastor's best known and loved
Biblical verse: the tithe verse.
The greatest Commandment
Emphasised the Saviour
Paves way to Heaven
Then he woke up
And appealed to the Father
To re-instate the verse
He laughed and laughed again for
The father ignored his plea
And he died again and again...
Upon which the Saviour touched him
And asked him why sleep
At the time the world needed him most
But the pastor only quickly added
You have taken away what I needed most
There are other fields to yield it
Forgive me but what they need is not me
But what I can not give
Ronald, this poem really grabbed my attention. For me it is the narrative of this that is so good and well laid out. The ommission of pronouns and adjectives here and there, make for a very good approach. The laying out of stanzas is superb, giving a great flow to this.
