The Schoolbag Poem by Boghos Artinian

The Schoolbag

He ran through the flames
Into their burning home
To save his new schoolbag
Before his father could shout ‘no! '
Or hold back his seven year old son;
He had not yet learned
That bags had no souls
And could be left to burn.
They later found his body charred
With the bag strapped to his back.
