Hark, all ye people, hear this wondrous essence deep,
How an inconceivable divine play the universe does keep.
To satisfy a cherished wish, a purpose held in mind,
Lord Krishna came to Earth, to this realm of a heavy kind.
He is the very form of Love, yet its full measure He did not know, Assuming Radha's loving mood, His beauty brightly glowed.
The form that steals the mind of Radha, a captivating sight,
Yet, tasting that alone, His heart found no full delight.
His own sweet beauty He would ever gaze upon and see,
But how much more He longed to drink Radha's love-nectar free!
And for a second reason, He appeared as Grace's wave,
To be the Kirtan's foundation, the souls of Kali's age to save.
The souls in ignorance are drowned, they know no higher truth,
Without the nectar of Krishna's Name, no solace for their youth.
To manifest the name that purifies the fallen, He did proclaim,
He gave to all the gift of Love, without a hint of shame.
With Radha's golden bodily luster and Her loving ecstasy,
Gauranga is replete with both, illuminating eternally.
The Lord took birth in Nabadwip's land, a beacon shining bright, Says Pranabanandan, 'This removes all weariness and blight.'
