Where would I go if I had my way?
If all options were open to me
Over the hills and far away
Or on a sail boat across the sea
Somewhere with time for contemplation
Where my mind can find some release
Somewhere to begin regeneration
Where I can find my inner peace
Along the hard roads I have travelled
On bleeding feet have I strode on
When life and love it has unravelled
When everything I’d known was gone
Through life’s trials and tribulations
From the pan into the fire
From the peaks of approbation
To snagged upon life’s tangled brier
But now the time has finally come
For the tooth has grown too long
To head off into the setting sun
And write the last verse of life’s song
