The Shadow Poem by Alexander Thomas

The Shadow

The figure that stands behind me,
The unbounded self set free,
The figure that stands behind you,
Look for the missing pieces of us for the clue!

I know I find you on the psychic plane,
We enter each other through an open vein,
I feel you whilst in dreamy suspension,
Beyond this world, in another dimension.

The mirror casts a different reflection,
Naked faces that show real affection,
We stand with our otherworldly selves,
From beyond where the subconscious delves.

The true self plays another tune,
Inscribed in an esoteric rune,
We summon a special power,
As we climb love's winding tower.

Like puppets on a string,
It's for me you sing,
And for you I write,
As we practice this ancient rite.

Together transcendent,
Together unique,
We play a great game,
Under a penetrating gaze onto brighter days!
