With resolve, our people enfold their fate
— this intricate dance in the fabric of our state.
One would wonder,
'Why are things torn asunder? '
As a part of my journey, I embrace it
though except hunger's echoes, I have nothing to eat
In my country, Nigeria.
Like balloons released into the sky, prices go higher
Look! Within each leader's mind lodges a liar
Everybody sleeps and wakes with a worry
Trailing like a shadow, I persist, with 'sorry'
With a smile, I try to grace my face
as I sweep away the worries from this space
In my country, Nigeria.
Oh Lord, let your voice flow like a river through my soul; speak,
that you will be the sturdy branch for the weak
In the embrace of our whispered plea, hear our cry
Will the well of our sorrow first run dry?
As life, like leaves in the autumn wind, spins helter-skelter,
May many find their own shelter,
In my country, Nigeria.
