The Sleep About Washington Poem by Liza Sud

The Sleep About Washington

Today I had a dream: I was in Washington.
And for some reason I went to Trafalgar Square,
But it reminded me of Peter's yellow well,
And everything was there quite, light, humble and fair.

But there were Russian people, kind and beautiful,
And all of them were radiating health and vigor.
One woman in a shop gave me three thousand rubles,
As it were daily news, so naturally and easy.

People there conveyed such reliance, sobriety,
As if they were not men, but angels that were solid.
As if on their hands in spirit they were carrying me,
They helped with pleasure and, if necessary, phoned.

And blissfully I called a taxi on Clean street.
They helped me to translate the name of street from English,
These were strange people, too happy spiritually.
In the future our life will be saintly and glistening.
