I visited a house the other day
It was built a long time ago
It was made of mostly sod throughout
Preserved and kept to show
When you think about the lifestyle
The way people had to live
A different kind of world back then
Life didn’t have a lot to give
When it rained the house was soggy
Water dripped down on everything
I’ll bet when winter was over
They sure looked forward to spring
Sometimes the roof caved
And they had to start again
They had to clean everything
A chore for women and men
So if you come across a sod house
Be sure and check it out
For the worries we think we have now
Are insignificant, without a doubt!
