The Stay At Home People Poem by Francis Duggan

The Stay At Home People

My journey in life it has brought me far south
Of the fields of the badger and waterways of the brown trout
But the stay at home people far happier than me
The big World out there they have no wish to see
I do envy them their contentment of mind
Growing old among their own the sedentary kind
Happy to grow old where they are well known
Where many look on them as of their own
Far south of Millstreet where i went to primary school
To many i am a stranger near old Warrnambool
And though i have lived for many years south of Ireland
With my accent many struggle for to understand
And the stay at home people far happier than me
The big World out there they have no wish to see.
