The Stolen Hour Poem by Sebastian Seal

The Stolen Hour

P.C. Dave (the police bear) was eating breakfast,
His watch said half past eight.
He thought his beat began in thirty minutes,
But he was doomed to be late.

The clocks had gone forward,
It was now British Summer Time.
Dave suddenly realised this,
And decided it was a crime.

'Someone's stolen my hour! '
He cried in dismay,
'I'll hunt him down with all my power, '
'I'll make the scoundrel pay! '

Out he went on patrol,
Searching for the villain.
The word was of a Mr Big,
So he arrested a Mr Big Ben.

His sergeant was not pleased,
'What will all the tourists think? '
'They'll all be pretty cheesed,
when they see it in the clink! '

But Dave was unrepentant,
'He stole my hour! ' he claimed,
The sergeant called the commandant,
Who reckoned Big Ben was framed.

Dave let Big Ben walk,
And went out for another look.
His superiors never appreciated his work,
Whenever he caught a crook.
