The Storm Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

The Storm

in the sky
darkness surrounds
clouds
swirl and churn
pulling and tugging…stretching
limits

branches twist and bow
roots
anchored beneath
the soil…
beginning to saturate
with a deluge
of streaming rain

white bolts streak
and sizzle
across panels of apprehension
forked
lightening indiscriminately
throws
fierce lances

thunderous tremors
shake
stability of the spared
