The Story Of A Love Lost Poem by Ponniah Ganeshan

The Story Of A Love Lost

You appeared before me
In the mirror.
Without any notice
You saw my face and me yours

We sat in chairs facing each other
In the verandah of the palace
And talked and talked
About the beginnings and endings
Our journey moved towards every direction
With its winter and summer
Slipping through the window of the times.

Your image reflected in the mirror
I heard sparrows talking something in your words
What are those words and what do they say
I wondered
They talked something about you

Who am I to you and you to me
And what I see beyond your name
I drew a picture
I was walking with you hand in hand
On Horton Plaint
And talking and talking
Then, suddenly you disappeared
Not to be seen even in my dream!
