I fought the world with all my might,
I claimed I held the key,
But shadows grew within the night
And walls closed in on me.
I struggled hard to stand alone,
With pride as my only guide,
Till every strength I thought I'd known
Had withered deep inside.
Then came the day I let it go,
The day I said, 'I'm through, '
I knelt upon the earth below
With nothing left to do.
But in that dark and hollow place,
Where all my walls fell down,
I found a light, I found a grace,
A strength I'd never known.
For only when we yield the fight
And own our broken state,
We step out from the lonely night
To bloom and find our fate.
