The Stuff I Pen Poem by Francis Duggan

The Stuff I Pen

Rating: 4.8

The stuff I pen is just that stuff though some call it doggerel rhyme
And some do say in your hobby mate why waste such precious time
Why do you keep on penning stuff we really wonder why?
'Tis time you put your pen away and give something else a try
I listen to their good advice but to them do not reply
Of my addiction to penning stuff to myself I do deny
If I told them I'd retire my pen then that would be a lie
For I reckon I'll be penning stuff until the day I die
I feel a compulsion to write and that's not a good thing
Though my words are like a wounded bird they cannot take to wing
I write just for the love of it though success I never win
And my addiction is not a crime not even a venial sin
I'm one of those getting on in years and time's not on my side
And the day I will stop penning stuff is for the reaper to decide.
