The Sun Casts No Shadows Poem by Mohammad Younus

The Sun Casts No Shadows

The sun casts no shadow—
nor do I,
when I stand upright,
bathed in its vertical rays.
The sun and I, partners in light,
perfectly aligned.

But when I stray,
deviating from the perpendicular,
shadows emerge,
stretching or shrinking,
shaped by the tilt of my path—
the angle of my deviation.

Shadows shorten,
fading gradually,
as the standing arm of my angle
leans closer to true alignment.
And so do I.
The sun, steadfast,
a loyal companion,
always watching over me.

Outcast I've been—
wandering at acute angles,
but never forsaken.
I'll keep shaping new angles,
seeking perfect harmony,
until my shadows
vanish completely.

And in that moment,
I will stand wholly in the light,
merged with its essence,
casting no shadow at all.
