The Sun Rises Poem by Luis Jimenez

The Sun Rises

Only once every day
can you watch the sun rise,
out of fields in the east
and over mountains in the west-
only once every day
can you watch the sun rise.
Are you cliché like me?
Do you look up at the moon-
in hopes that a person you love,
is looking up at it too?
Those feelings are valid-
you're not alone,
we have more in common
than you currently know.
So save a moment to gaze up,
at the star that we share-
for time shows no mercy
to those that don't care.
After all only once every day,
can you watch the sun rise.
