This Is Just To Say Poem by Luis Jimenez

This Is Just To Say

I have flushed

my ring

that we got

at the carrousel gift shop

and your Promise

is in the trash

where it always

should have been

My apologies

I was upset

that you had failed me

again.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
After listening to This American Life #354 "Mistakes Were Made" (act two)I was instructed to create my own "spoof/take" on the Imagist poem, This Is Just To Say by William Carlos Williams.

The final product is what became known to me as, The Promise. Using, This Is Just To Say as an inspiration for my poem allowed me to tell a simple short story that I am sure many might relate to.I find joy in hearing other's version of this poem, and would love to hear yours!
