The Swift Day Part 2 Poem by Marilyn Shepperson

The Swift Day Part 2

He came upon a tower tall
He had never seen before
Though he knew well this land
He was its prince, after all
Lured on, he left his horse
To go through a doorless arch
Climbing stairs that seemd to go on and on
Forever, aye, till the end of time
He paused to look outside
Funny how the sun was now at noon
But then the voice sounded closer still
Enticed, he climbed some more
Till at last he reached the top
Yet when he looked outside again
The sun was red with setting
In front, a ladder to a trap door
So, he climbed the last few steps into a tiny room
Where sat the maiden spinning a fine thread
Upon an old fashioned wheel
