The Swimmer
Powerful shoulders breach the waves
Blue tattoos and scarlet hair
Sharp stars pierce the summer night
Pebbles chatter everywhere
In the North Sea's ice embrace
Silently the swimmer glides
Like a creature of the deep
Veteran of many tides
Round her wraps a mystery
Moonbeams light her like a spark
What has called her to the sea
At this hour, in the dark?
