The Task God Gave Me: Poem by Louis Coetsee

The Task God Gave Me:

Was my life really wasted?
All the sweetness of love that I Tasted?
So many places I got to stay
Every byway or Highway
The times I took the chance
Times of wine and Dance!

I saw sun rising in the east
A few places Over the sea
I saw the sun in the west
One thing I can say
I tasted women and wine, the best!
Experienced life at its worse and the rest.

I have seen this country grow
Experienced its death painful and slow.
I found Happiness an fear in the strangest of places
Seen love and hate on many faces
I experienced marriage, its beginning and the end!
So much money love and time spend
I learned what to keep and what to let go.

I met God when I fell inhell
Got up and survived to tell
Went into a flat spin falling
When I heard God calling
And experienced now the best
Hie voice was sweet and tender as he spoke
Saying: Son pick up my joke
You are alive, because I have work for you,
I now live in God's love, a place of rest
Being with Jesus, In his steps I walk
I really walked the walk, and talked the talk.

God gave me the most important task to do
He gave me Emma to look after too
To hold her hand so she can go where ever
And to love and cherish her forever!
But most important thing is:
To hold her hand, to walk her home.
