The Tent In Our Livingroom Poem by jeff barth

The Tent In Our Livingroom

We Built a tent in our living room from the blanket we love.
We put it in front of our fire place, gathering up the sequenced pillows
from the bedroom. She thought they looked perfect with the couch.
Our dog Sugar Bear found this a grand idea curling up in a corner on a pillow for a nap.
We crawled in crouching, listening to the crackling fire.
The rain beat hard against the window as we played cards sipping hot tea
and nibbling cookies, till the day was gone.
George Bailey wagged his tail, and raced in and out wondering what might be next,
as a nervous cocker will do.
It was the kind of day that was just like us! Filled with the spice of childhood and the chance to live it all over again! This time we'll get it right. This time we won't let go..
