The Things I Love Poem by Leslie Alexis

The Things I Love

These are the things I love:
Eating Ice cream from the truck
- Sweeter than groceries’
And when I catch it -thanks to luck-
I beg… more! … please!

These are the things I love:
Midnight strolls and evening limes
- Crumbled leaves, bumbling bees
In spring, summer, winter times
I beg… more! … please!

These are the things I love:
Sound of waves crashing on seashore
Umpteen feet creating breeze;
Following men of great lore
I beg… more! … please!

These are the things I love:
Hovering birds which zip away
- Hiding until one sees
Because I haven’t this each day,
I beg… more! … please!

These are the things I love:
The smell of fresh oak and pine
O’ glorious are these trees
Because forest ne’er be mine
I beg… more! … please!

These are the things I love:
Water’s ripples at stone’s drop:
An embrace spanning degrees!
Because I can’t use hands to mop
I beg… more! … please!

These are the things I love:
Hellos from the neighborhood
Howdy do, a friendly squeeze
Because times aren’t so good
I beg… more! … please!

These are the thing I love:
Kisses from the misses on cheeks
Nothing compares to these;
For what is hers she sneaks…
I beg… more! … please!
