The Thorn Poem by Pete Rivera

The Thorn

In the cold, snowy night
When my eyes met yours
This is what was in sight
This is what we're waiting for

An embrace to protect against the cold
And a smile to guide my day
I'll be yours from the young to the old
I hope you never, ever walk away

I thought me to be a thorn in your side
A simple coincidence for us to collide
But now that I see you shine in the light
I'm going to attempt to make you mine

By the sunflowers and cornfield
Where we hid from the crowd
By the roses and windmills
Prayed that they heard no sound

I thought me to be a thorn in your side
A simple coincidence for us to collide
But now that I see you shine in the light
I'm going to attempt to make you mine

When I fade away
Stay by me in heaven
Because its you that I hope to see
Standing by my side

I thought me to be a thorn in your side
A simple coincidence for us to collide
But now that I see you shine in the light
I'm going to attempt to make you mine
