The Toast Poem by Randy McClave

The Toast

Today I'll give a toast to the bride
Now she has her man forever at her side,
As one they will now stand together
Now forever, and forever.
She has her someone to share her dreams
And of course her many desires and schemes,
And always in this life
She'll be known proudly as his wife.

Now I'll give a toast unto the groom
Never again will he walk in gloom,
Now he has a woman he loves as his mate
His forever, chosen fate.
He will now have someone to support him
With every thought, dream or whim,
Now when his wife needs a soul to trust in
At her side will be her husband.

This toast I will now give to them both
As to each other they take the most solemn oath,
From this day forward they will be known as one
From the darkness of night to the waiting dawn.
They will hold strongly onto each other's hand
As they will always help each other stand,
Now as one they cut the cake with their knife
Forever they will be known, as husband and wife.
