The Towering Cedars Cradle My Drifting Thoughts Poem by Mohammad Younus

The Towering Cedars Cradle My Drifting Thoughts

The towering cedars cradle my drifting thoughts,
Their ancient arms unfurl like forgotten lullabies.
In their quiet embrace, Kashmir's mysticism blooms—
A presence absolute, woven into every sigh of the wind.

The valley slumbers still, veiled in the hush of dawn,
While the sun of freedom lingers at the threshold,
Its tender light pressing gently against the hills.
Soon, Kashmiris shall awaken,
Eyes kissed by the golden hour,
And witness the valley's splendor
Unfolding like the petals of a saffron rose.

The cool air hums with the breath of moss and orchids,
Their fragrance an offering to the morning.
Dappled sunlight threads through the canopy,
Casting silhouettes that dance like celestial script—
Nature's poetry, written in shadows and light.

Here, the earth sings in wild tongues,
Verses spun from the golden filaments of pine,
Wildflowers trembling in quiet prayer,
And the untamed songs of life stirring beneath the soil.

Jewels glisten across the valley's crown—
Dal, Wular, Manasbal—mirrors of the heavens.
Their waters hold the sky's reflection,
While holy springs rise like whispered invocations
From the dales and mountain crests.

In the stillness, each stone hums with memory,
And every breeze carries the echo of longing.
Kashmir stands—
A sanctuary of light,
A testament to beauty untouched,
Where hope, like a river,
Finds its source and returns.
