The Trapped Soul Part 1 Poem by Marilyn Shepperson

The Trapped Soul Part 1

'Twas Christmas Eve, when he died
But when the beam of light descended
The frightened soul refused to pass on
And the way to Paradise closed
The spirit stayed where he was
Keeping an unseen eye on family and friends
But as the many years rolled by
The time came that all those he'd known
Had gone their way to Heaven
Those left behind didn't even know his name
So too sad to stay, he drifted away
To find another home that needed him
By chance he came upon a castle
And felt compelled to enter.
Yet once inside, he found he was trapped
He was inside the home of an immortal sorcerer
Who saw him straight away
And laughed in fiendish glee
'Another one to haunt the guests, who come
To be haunted in my hotel'
The spirit, hearing this, flew to every window
But found he could not escape
Nor through any wall or door
That would have led to the outside
Only through internal doors and walls
Could he now enter or leave at will
Anything that might have allowed
That soul, egress to the outside world
Had been sorcererously sealed.
