The Trappings Of Wealth Poem by Francis Duggan

The Trappings Of Wealth

They must be close to nocturnal seldom seen out by day
Behind their high secure walls from the World they hide away
Two new mercedes in their double garage one for him and one for the wife
Money may not buy you everything but it can improve your life
Their son and daughter in their late teens in high class boarding schools have got new cars of their own
It truly can be said of them the hard life they've not known
In that money speaks every language one must say that there is truth
It is so awful to be poor in a World of little ruth
In their backyard an indoor heated swimming pool where they swim all year round
With servants to maintain their home and garden on two acres of ground
Money cannot buy you happiness some have been known to say
But I'd rather be wealthy and unhappy than poor and unhappy any day
They must be close to nocturnal seldom seen out by day
Behind their high secure walls from the World they hide away.
