The Treason Of The Poet Poem by Matt Western

The Treason Of The Poet

Thrashing back at life’s treason with semi-sextile whips
Resting equipped with the notion
It’s all irrelevant a commotion
Promoting a juvenile counterfeit
Motion through a rhythmic ocean
Wild in transit

Slow to lift with a circumlocutory twist
Vocational practices translating a sudden shift
Turning the usual suspects disrespecting poetry’s gift
Into an antagonistic seismic
Shakedown apparent

Rampant heists of verbal forms frantic
Folly themselves with all they persist

So the answers deliberately become voided
Prancing forth to the paternal ghoul of the subject
Who leans forth to observe the given topic

Exuding evaluative analysis biased
Perverse in retranslating the narrative
This self-criticism akin to behaviour annihilated
Converted obliterated like a bomb hit
Muttering the driest humility and wit

To leave the subject better off guessing
Whether he’s to leave his work and his endeavours begin forgetting
