The True Journey Poem by Jan H Mysjkin

The True Journey

Rating: 3.5

After death the soul is reincarnated in the body of an animal.

I saw an elephant with a wooden leg,
a hedgehog with the trots,
blind monkeys, dressed as deities,
a paralysed rabbit,
a parrot without feathers,
leprous monkeys with bleeding buttocks,
a dog suffering from insanity.

I wonder what prompted the soul to go looking there.

Translation: 2011, John Irons
