The Truth Poem by Rebekah Gamble

The Truth

The great slanderer
the battle began,
as a fierce bird-trapper,
and the bird is man.

He lingers in churches,
where it all began,
sometimes as light,
or a white-collared man.

A snake, has he been?
No, just a voice from the air
exploiting desire
of this trap be aware.

He'll creep up in comfort
when you're drowning in tears,
and make you go blind
to yourself and your fears.

It seems a good price,
your life for peace-
but be not misled,
you'll simply end up deceased!
