The Truth Of Love Poem by Kayla Rodgers

The Truth Of Love

Time is slow when we are apart, but passes quickly when we are together.
Longing drags the day on when our hearts aren't one, but when they are, the day speeds by until it is done.

With each day, hour, minute, second my heart twinges with pain until we see each other again.
Then gone are the seconds, minutes, hours when we do.

Lonliness is my companion during this long week.
It is my friend when you aren't with me, holding me in your arms.
It is my lover when you aren't there to sweetly kiss my lips.

I am dying for the day when I can hear your voice, touch your skin, see your face, and kiss your lips once again.
I am killing myself slowly by looking at your picture and imagining our next meeting, when it is a while away.

It hurts inside, the pain real.
When I am cold I wish you could warm me up.
When I get hurt, I wish you could comfort me and dry my tears.

You are me and I am you. We are one.
