The Tunnel That I Ran Through

Conceived into the point of no return,
I, like a rabbit, burrowed through
This necessary underground passageway
Where fear was a shadow I was escaping from,
And every element in here was fading and fleeting.

The only way to push forward was to pant,
Sweat, bruise that a second wind may be gained.
Some wanted out of its scent, sound and design,
As claustrophobia is no strange visitor in here.

My beloved ones, they kept my palms warm,
And we dashed through this mysterious odyssey.
I may have lost grasp of frail hands along the way,
But I have believed in a certainty somewhere ahead
That they would reach for me at the next beginning.

Inside this winding, hollow cylinder of darkness,
Even words chased me. I was in pursuit of them too.
We sparked, burst a light together for other travelers.
The brightest one I know though is at this pipe's end.
