The Turkey Has Escaped Poem by Hebert Logerie

I am not joking
I am not kidding
The turkey flew away
The big bird was spotted near the lake
For heaven's sake
The turkey got away
While everyone was waiting at the table
Everything was cool and stable
Until the Meleagris has decided to escape
A friend, on his way, called to say that a big one was by the cape
This is really embarrassing
This is interesting and not amusing
My family understands and is not too uptight
Or too upset about this event. Maybe the bird was right
If you were a turkey, you would have done the same thing
So we decided to eat fish instead for the feast of Thanksgiving
The lesson to be learned is that there is always an alternative
Some birds are aggressive and others are passive
This escaped turkey is now in the woods walking tall
