The Turtle Mountain Haikus Poem by Tovli Simiryan

The Turtle Mountain Haikus

Rating: 4.5

Across the prairie;
burning suns fuse horizon;
earth befriends heaven.

Sunset tucks her tongue
simmering, stoic. Green mounds
escape spring-time frost.

Silence celebrates
old women returning north;
light settles softly.

Guardian of peace;
garden of shared boundary—
touch air; paint it blue.

Old women singing,
little steps toward heaven—
like turtles hiding.

Nice imagery. North Dakota, A beautiful land and its people. Together with its Neighbor to the south. At first sight, Barren plains Stretching to the horizon, Until one is overcome by The beauty of loneliness And recognizes This is truly God's Country.
