The Undoing Poem by Erika Wingo

The Undoing

I am spinning
Around and around
Non stop inside my life
Can't tell if I am
Coming or going
Don't know what to make
Of this constant noise
Where nonsense has become reality
Where dreams are irreversably
Damaged by the vulgarity
Rolling off of someone's tongue

In the quiet of night
I grow restless
As my mind races
Too many thoughts
Screaming at once
Stealing first, my sleep
Then snatching at my sanity
I pray that I don't
Lose my mind

Hoping to be spared
And peace be bestowed
Upon me
As well as those around me
Who's faces exist in every memory
Who's love is within every moment
Of my life
