The Unheard Poem by Sumaya Aijaz

The Unheard

Rating: ★5.0

Deafness amidst sound,
Numbness amidst words,
Blindness behind curtains
drawn across the eyes-
tears blurring
what they once could see.
Something breaking silently,
like a stone falling
through a mirror,
without a sound.
Perhaps the silence,
too loud for ears to bear,
a pain that pierces
without drawing blood,
like thorns among petals.
Screams without a tear,
a voice swallowed by fear,
until the silence itself
makes one drown.
