The Voice Unheard Poem by Anupa Subramanian

The Voice Unheard

Rating: 1.0

I am your child ohh my mother..

And these are my feelings you may never bother..

I searched your eyes among millions who gazed at me..

And longed for your touch just to know how it feels..

I have wrapped many (aunties) in my arms..

Just to feel and breathe your warmth..

I wonder mummy how you look...

Is it like my teacher or our cook...? ?

I never know why u left me...

Did i give you pain or was I too ugly? ?

The place you left me is a heaven truly..

They give me food and I go to school daily..

Not one or two but seventeen sisters I have..

And they love me as their lovely brother..

They call me sweet and cute and dear..

But it is you voice that I long to hear..

My childhood was a great plight..

Without any cookies and delight.

Dark lonely nights rocked my cradle..

Strange hands held me when I paddled..

Mummy....my days are black and grey..

I wish you add colour one day..

Come to my school, playground or market..

You will find a lad with royal blue jacket..

Just look at him once and call ‘ MY DEAR ‘

Hug him so hard and melt away his fear..

Don't give him toffee or an ice-cream.

just let him rest back in your womb..

The place most safe and secure..

Before you truly forever disappear
