The Vulnerable Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

The Vulnerable

Is your heart capable of love?
Or is the past filled with ravens?
Love is a spring day amidst the grief
Many no longer feel it
Lust takes the place of the sun
Hearts fill with stone
The temptation to not feel
Loss of trust
Replaced by dark dreams
Vulnerability a thing of the past
Dark castles deep with chains
Imprisoned by self exile

Do you remember the days of blue?
When fields were filled with spring
Innocent dreams came like robins
Everything was a song of life
Visions of a first kiss like a rose
Lovely wild flowers blossomed
Smiles touched the bedrock of dreams
First flush of young love
Nights of soft sweet fire
Earth seemed like Eden
Couples glow with moonlight
I crave love

Only the vulnerable have a chance
Only the vulnerable walk the stars
