The Walk Poem by James Toler

The Walk

The Walk

A path in the forest is where they are found
A young boy and his dad just walking around

The older arm stretched around the young man
While words of his yesterdays play like a band

You see son he says, while pointing to sky
The day we enjoy will soon by us by

But never forget the bond that we share
Just like trees and limbs that they bare

The lessons of life no one can teach
A day of reflection is how that is reached

So as we walk and spend this one day
Listen my boy to what I do say

For soon you will be walking this path all alone
As God and his angles will help guide me home

These lessons I share will then be for you
To keep and to share to help guide you through

So as the sun sets and this day is now done
Remember this walk of a father and his son.
