The War Drags On Again Poem by Kevin Hulme

The War Drags On Again

Last Night I cried, a Storm to unfurl,
A great Dam breaking for the Poor of the World,
For what New Caesar needs some Laurels to own,
By stamping upon Sculls on the way to the Throne.
Those Warring Old Generals playing Chess with our lives,
On the Opium of Power they Slavishly thrive.
Trampling the Elderly, the Lame and New-Born,
The Innocents of War they savagely scorn.
A goblet of Blood, a Victory toast,
‘We are Mightier still' a Vacuous boast.
For so it begins the latest in Wars;
And can anyone say what the Hell It's all for.
